GOOD FOR:

Accessible and windy freeride conditions set in front of a very modern Egyptian holiday resort town with superb facilities

THE LURE

30 minutes north of Hurghada lies the resort of El Gouna, featuring a lattice work of waterways, housing, hotels, restaurants, bars, a world class golf course and a newly developed cable park. El Gouna must be the most sophisticated of all Red Sea kiting spots. A man-made dream of a town that not only caters for the kiting tourist, but attracts holidaymakers looking for a safe, luxurious holiday and also has a lively local population of 20,000 ex-pats who all call this ‘French Riviera of the Red Sea’, home.

Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced kitesurfer, El Gouna, with its glorious sunshine, clear blue waters and constant wind, offers amazing flat water conditions for fast improvements in your riding. This has been the stage for many international freestyle competitions over the years, chosen specifically for its regular winds, gently shelving beach and large expanse of shallow water. There are deeper sections further out where ramps form for jumping and there are several kite centres around El Gouna, most of which are within walking distance or short tuk-tuk ride from the town (there are no cars in El Gouna).
