Windfest 2016 – Nitinat Lake, British Columbia. 8th-10th July.

Windfest 2016 Kiteworld Magazine

The ever popular Windfest is back this July and, between the 8th and 10th, there’ll be a three day event with twintip, foil & formula races, freestyle and big air heats, beach parties and live bands at Nitinat Lake, situated right in the centre of Vancouver Island.

Nitinat Lake is home to one of the most consistent thermic winds in BC and, during the summer, benefits from reliable steady winds that frequently reach 30 knots as the sun warms the valley providing consistent winds throughout much of the season.

This year’s event will also see the return of the Canadian Twintip racing champs along with the Ocean Rodeo World One Design Championship so if you’ve ever felt like giving racing a try but don’t have a formula or foil board then this is the event for you!

The guys from Ocean Rodeo will be there on the 8th and 9th with a fleet of demo kit for you to try out and there’ll be no better place to rub shoulders with pros and bros alike for some guaranteed good times with your fellow kiteboarders. Camping is available at a nearby campground but space is limited both on the campsite and in the competition so do yourself a favour and get registered before June 12th for a discounted entry fee!
