Patagonia are out to save Europe’s wild rivers
At one time it was believed that hydroelectricity was the future for powering our societies. However, hydropower is a catastrophe in many instances and it’s the only form of ‘renewable’ energy that’s sending animal species to extinction, displacing people globally, and worsening climate change.
The last wild rivers in Europe are situated in the Balkans and they’re now under threat. There are 3,000 proposed dam projects in the region and 91% of them will divert water from rivers – destroying communities, eradicating wildlife habitats and even draining stretches of rivers dry in the process.
There are clean ways to solve our energy crisis and hydropower is not one of them.
