Mondial du Vent and the WKL Tour 2017 begins.

The official freestyle world tour is underway


After the success of last year’s event, and after the GKA awarded the WKL the right to run the official freestyle world tour, hopes are high for this year’s WKL tour!

The Mondial du Vent is the first event of the the year in Leucate, France, and qualifiers for riders who haven’t already pre-qualified for the event after last year’s tour began today. 

The riders already qualified in the men’s division are Carlos Mario (BRA), Youri Zoon (NL), Alex Pastor (ESP), David Tonijuan (ESP), Paul Serin (FRA), Stefan Spiessberger (AUT), Set Teixeira (BRA), Posito Martinez (DR), Liam Whaley (ESP), Jerome Cloetens (ESP/BEL), Valentin Garat (FRA), Alex Neton (BRA), Antione Fermon (FRA) and Michael Schitzhofer (AUT). 

In the women’s division Bruna Kajiya (ESP), Hannah Whiteley (UK), Annabel Van Westerop (NL), Paula Novotona (PL), Pauline Valesa (FRA), Rita Arnaus (ESP) and Therese Taabbel (DK) have all qualified.

The Mondial du Vent is a big occasion on the European watersports calendar as it’s also a windsurfing and SUP racing event and this year looks like it’s set to be a big one. It’s also the first of 13 planned WKL events and so it looks like this year’s tour could be one of truly epic proportions!
