Kitesurfing Armada Lives On!

Storm Damage Kitesurfing Armada

Winter Storms Can’t Stop The 2020 Armada

Despite taking a beating over the past month, the Kitesurfing Armada Festival is confirmed to go ahead despite severe storm damage to Hayling Island’s West beach.

The fun will go ahead on Hayling Island from the 19th to 21st June 2020 although damage to the current site has meant a site relocation and slight delay in ticket launch.

Mark Cole, Director of Armada Events says, “Whilst we are understandably very concerned about the impact the weather has had to Hayling Island’s West beach, the ability to move to this alternative site is fantastic news. The new site, with direct access to the beach, gives us an ideal opportunity to further enhance the festival layout and the overall entertainment offering over the 3 days.

“We want as many kitesurfers as possible on the water so we have subsidised Tier 1 kitesurfing tickets to just £25!”

Following the recent storms, Armada Events, owners of Kitesurfing Armada Festival, have been in constant liaison with Havant Borough Council to monitor damage to the beach front venue where the festival has been held for the last 7 years. Unfortunately, with the most recent onslaught of storm Dennis, the festival site has been severely damaged impacting both the beach and access road resulting in the site no longer being a suitable option for the festival.

The storms and subsequent damage have been unprecedented. Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership previously advised that they would not anticipate this extent of damage to occur for at least 20 to 30 years unfortunately, this has not been the case.

The Council’s support has been integral in ensuring Kitesurfing Armada Festival continues and, as a result of their help, we are able to move the festival site slightly East to an area which has been largely untouched by the recent storms.

As a result of the many logistics required to relocate the festival site, ticket sales have been postponed for a week until 6th March 2020 when they will be on sale at armadaevents.co.uk
