THE SET-UP

This is a great spot for freeriding, freestyle and foiling progression thanks to a wide beach and large expanse of obstacle-free water. The relatively enclosed bay keeps the water calm and the beach free from swell or shore-break and there's plenty of launching and landing space. The wind is thermal, rising steadily throughout the day, so it's usually perfect for improving riders.

There's another good beach for improving your riding just 30 minutes away, called Steccato di Cutro, which is on the other side of the Calabrian peninsula and works in totally different wind directions. A kilometre upwind to the north you'll find Capo Suvero where you can occasionally score some decent wave riding. 

Hang Loose Beach operate a full beach set-up alongside a busy school, so if you're looking for somewhere to learn kitesurfing in pleasant conditions with plenty of vibes on the beach, then this is a good option.
