THE LURE As it's surrounded by flat, warm, shallow water that stretches as far as the eye can see, you won't care much for what else Key West has to offer, but there's plenty to keep you occupied if you're not on the water, too.
WIND & WEATHER: With beaches facing 360°, who cares what direction it comes from! October through May sees the wind average 15 knots, daily. The air temperature hovers around the 27°C/80°F.
WATER: These are some seriously luxurious conditions, and of course the water is right on par, luring you in to its warm clutches at 26°C/79°F.
CENTRES In just four short miles, Key West packs in 120 bars and restaurants, leading to the idea that this is 'a drinking town with a tourist problem', you will not run dry or go hungry in Key West. You can find all types of accommodation here, from ocean-side apartments, guest houses, hotels to budget bed and breakfasts. For families there are fun museums and tours.
AIRPORTS: Miami (MIA): 160 miles from Key West. Key West (EYW): Just 1.2 miles and you're there!
GETTING ABOUT: The Florida Keys shuttle will take you from Miami airport straight to your hotel in Key West. Renting a bike is the best way to get around the Keys, though, as it'll only take you 15 minutes to do the lot! Car hire is also an option.
