Issue #65

Issue #65

The tour of kitesurfing's meccas continues for the Kiteworld editorial team as they hit the northeast coast of Brazil. Some small villages suddenly prosper because people recognise they are located close to the site of a vital resource or outstanding natural beauty. The villagers of Cumbuco struck gold in both ways when it became apparent that there aren't many places in the world with such a solid seven to eight month wind season for kitesurfing. Thousands visit here for the long golden beaches, choice of lagoons and endless downwinders. The kids here grew up surrounded by kiteboarding, and it shows. It's still really early season, but the wind is already taking on its clockwork tendencies.

How are the editorial team coping? Don't worry, they'll be checking in with tormenting tales of regular winds, perfect temperatures, inspirational groms, Brazilian dos and don'ts and exciting road trip experiences in issue #65.

We know it's technically still summer, but come September it's time to start checking the piggy bank and thinking about raising the finances and booking up a warming winter trip. Filling out the rest of the issue are features such as a travel guide to Langebaan in South Africa. If you want to escape the city or find more flat water than in Cape Town, this is the place, just 90 minutes north. We take a look at the work of the KTA in Asia, hear from a woman for whom kiteboarding gave such strength in rebuilding her life after cancer, we look at the mechanics of waves, then dish out tips on riding them, plus there's the usual column inches from Shinn, Hadlow Dr. Gallate and we take a look at what the kite shop showrooms of 2014 will be displaying.
