Takoon (Issue #16 - May /Jun '05)

TakoonTakoon have come up with a concept that integrates both the bar control system and the kite as one. Their aim was to keep the classic four-line feel but enhance the wind range, improve safety and increase simplicity. A tough challenge, but they've done it with the Nova. There is no fifth line, but the relaunch and release work in a similar way when you let go of the bar - the kite de-powers and drops, waits for you to reach the bar again and then goes up when you pull - no swimming. As the bar and kite are designed together as one unit, the wind range is huge as the kite can be trimmed massively in the sky via the bridle that the whole system works on. The power is increased at the same time through a much wider projected area than kites of the same size, and the kite is always manoeuvrable as the back lines never go slack such is the design of the bridle system. Sizes: 9, 12, 15m.
