Slingshot (Issue #15 - Mar /Apr '05)

Slingshot Getting out in as little wind as possible seems to be the current industry fascination. The Machine is Slingshot's ultimate light-wind kite and allows you to control the performance, kite shape and broad range of power while on-the-fly. Sounds complicated, but they've actually kept it really simple. The Oneline system gives riders an advanced bar safety system, but on the Machine they also now have the ability to sheet and trim the kite from the bar resulting in added power for earlier planing. Splitflex technology automatically controls the trailing edge flaps for balance and speed by merging the Splitstrut technology from last year with new light-weight flexible battens. The Oneline can also affect the Power Curve that allows the shape of the leading edge to be altered, and makes for a very efficient kite without Y bridles or cross member lines.
