Mauricio has had more roles in kitesurfing than you’ve had hot dinners and was part of the original pack of Maui chargers ripping wakestyle on two line kites and in bindings before pushing strapless wave riding hard. He is set to leave his current role as Team Manager for Slingshot. We don’t know his next move as yet, but he’s worked for several brands in kiteboarding and we’re sure whatever he’s moving on to will be exciting… and that we’ll hear about it soon. We’ve picked his brain many a time, and you just can’t keep this man away from kiteboarding for long!
Here’s Slingshot’s adios to Morris:
We wanted to let you, our partners, know that Mauricio Abreu is leaving Slingshot to pursue opportunities outside the sport of kiteboarding. Mauricio has been an in integral part of our company for the last four years. He has helped us establish one the most respected teams in the sport as both a rider and Team Manager. Mauricio’s history in kiteboarding is as old as the sport itself. He’s a Godfather, a pioneer, and his influence in our sport has left its mark. Slingshot is proud of the legacy he leaves and we wish “good winds” for him and his family as they embark on this new era.
