JN (Issue #16 - May /Jun '05)
New team rider Marc Ramseier’s passion for waveriding has spilled over into the design lab at JN. Designed and inspired by him, the Big Fish is closely related to their existing Small Fish, preferring to dwell in the waves and side or onshore winds. However, sightings have been made of the Big Fish on flat water with small kites when other boards have become extinct due to a lack of wind strength. It’s a classic thruster fin set-up, kite-specific surfboard outline and rocker. A custom-style glass/wood laminate core gives a robust internal strength, and this fish will take some catching at 186 x 47cm. Complementing the wave-riding style is JN’s Prima Donna mid-aspect kite. JN believe this could be the first ‘one-style-fits-all’ kite. It has taken Kristen Boese to first places in this year’s PKRA, as well as help intermediate riders progress their skills quickly. Fifth line system is optional. Sizes: 3.5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16m. www.liquidair.org.uk and www.jn-kites.com
