Chasta is now a part of the FLYSURFER family
Guillaume Chastagnol (AKA – Chasta) is a name anyone in snowkiting will know and the snowkite legend and former Olympic athlete is a true ambassador of the discipline who helped to evolve it to where it is right now.
Chasta: “In 1998 I discovered kiting. I tried it on both snow and water, even on a volcano (Mount Etna), and I’ve been in love with it since the beginning. It has given me wings!”
Quite soon after getting into snowkiting, Chasta with the support of his sponsors like Red Bull and Nitro Snowboards, pushed snowkiting and traveled around the world expanding what was known to be possible on the snow with a kite. He won several world titles in snowkiting after his professional snowboard career ended (he represented France to fifth place in halfpipe snowboarding at the Nagano Olympic Games) and now, after spending the last four years in Tahiti, Chasta has joined the FLYSURFER team and is back shredding in Serre Chevalier, France, once again!
Chasta’s into all elements of the snowkiting discipline and rides a few kites from the FLYSURFER range.
“I tried the PEAK3 single-skin foilkite for a freeride tour in Cervières and it’s a perfect kite for safe and efficient backcountry sessions in high mountains. After that I tried the SPEED5 for flying and freestyling at the Lautaret pass and I was hooked. During the freestyle competition at the SnowKiteMaster in Alpe d’Huez I used the STOKE which is great for freestyle and unhooked tricks.”
This winter Chasta will be competing at the Snowkite Roccarrasso freeride race in Italy as well as riding in New Zealand and fitting in some on-the-water kiting in Tahiti. He’s also planning a kite trip to California’s Mt Shasta – partially because he shares the same name!
