Antiguas Second Annual Kitesurfing Camp

ANTIGUA’S SECOND ANNUAL KITESURFING CAMP AT NONSUCH BAY THIS JUNE

Nonsuch Bay and kitesurfing school 40 Knots host RIDE Antigua - a three week kitesurfing camp in June.  This year’s event will build on the success of the inaugural programme held in perfect conditions last year. The weeklong programme, unique in Antigua, offers both beginners and experienced kitesurfers the chance to ride some of the best kitesurfing waters of the Caribbean while improving skills and testing different equipment.

Taking place between 2nd and 20th June 2014, each week RIDE Antigua comprises a five day programme of kitesurfing with separate streams for beginners, improvers and those working on advanced techniques.  The RIDE Antigua package includes special promotional rates on accommodation, meals, equipment and tuition. These represent a saving of up to 40% on top of the hotel’s general promotions. Starting from £1050 per person without flights (or £1700 with flights from London Gatwick) based on four sharing a 2-Bedroom Apartment, the saving is over £680. RIDE Antigua is available to book with flights included from Planet Kitesurfing Holidays at www.planetkitesurfholidays.com  or calling +44 (0)1273 921 001.

RIDE Antigua includes expert IKO tuition from kitesurfing school 40 Knots; on water tuition and support using a fleet of inflatables; technique clinics; access to the full range of 40knots equipment comprising the latest from kite and board manufacturers Ozone Kites and Crazy Fly Kiteboards.

Intensive Zero to Hero classes for beginners will take guests from theory and safety, equipment rigging and kite control onto water starts and cruising on the board.  Tuition for the intermediates include improving their upwind riding and transitions, and work on techniques such as toe side riding and air gybes.  The instructors will help the more advanced kitesurfers work on their techniques such as jumps, rotations, grabs, handle-passes and directional board riding.

“We are pleased to team up with 40 Knots, Ozone and Crazy Fly again for RIDE Antigua at Nonsuch Bay.  The kitesurfing school is open all year round but once a year we enjoy holding this special event for kitesurfers, offering them the maximum possible time on the water, at the best possible price and at one of the best locations you can think of.” said Nonsuch Bay Resort managing director, Cameron Fraser.

Matt Taggart, managing director at Ozone Kites said: “Antigua is one of the best places I’ve ever windsurfed and kited so we are delighted that we’re able to support this exciting new event.”

With a stunning situation on the windward side of Antigua, Nonsuch Bay offers outstanding conditions for kitesurfing. The trade winds blow steady and consistent throughout the day and June is a great month. In recent years statistics show 86% of days with wind strength of at least force 4 and 98% at least force 3 (source Windguru Archive last 2006-13 / Beaufort wind scale). The sailing area includes 2 square miles of crystal clear flat warm water behind the barrier reef, ideal conditions for learning and progressing quickly.

Antigua is served by direct flights from major international hubs including London Gatwick, New York JFK and Newark, Miami and Toronto with just a 40 minutes transfer to the resort. No need to waste anytime once in the resort. The kitesurfing school is located directly at the resort’s sandy beach, just a stone’s throw from the accommodation, restaurant and bar. The RIDE Antigua rate includes participation in other watersports available at Nonsuch Bay including use of the fleet of sailing dinghies, Hobie cats, racing keelboats, windsurfing, kayaks, and stand up paddleboards.

A special RIDE Antigua rate is also available for non-kitesurfers on the same booking. As well as lazing by one of the three infinity pools or lounging on the resort’s secluded palm fringed beach, non-kitesurfers can take advantage of the other sailing and paddling watersports with tuition available. There is also fabulous snorkeling in the clear waters around uninhabited Green Island and the resort offers a full range of in-room spa treatments.

RIDE Antigua is available to book with flights included from Planet Kitesurfing Holidays at www.planetkitesurfholidays.com  or calling +44 (0)1273 921 001.
