NAME: FELIX ANTONIO MARTINEZ, AKA: 'POSITO'
NATIONALITY: Dom Rep
SPONSOR: Starkites - www.starkites.com
Felix Antonio Martinez, better known as Posito, is a 17-year-old rider emerging from the incredible pool of riding talent in Cabarete.
Like most of the Cabarete riding crop he grew up on the beach and was an assistant at a kite school from a young age, while also helping his family as well as going to school. A hard worker, he has studied hard at English over the last few years to prepare himself for when he fulfils his aspirations of becoming an international pro kitesurfer.
A stand out in local competitions he's also had good results in world class competition, such as with his win of the Best Trick title at the French PKRA event in 2011.
Posito's talent is natural, and it seems as if he doesn't need to try very hard to reach his level. He has an ability to replicate the tricks that he sees and on top of that has developed a unique style, especially recognisable by his agility and special throw of his free arm.
See the video from the PKRA in France last year below:
As he approaches 18 and with a steadily increasing level, look out for Posito making further impressions on the kiting world in years to come.
