Maintaining its short ‘trunk’ style and aggressive concave, the 2014 Celeritas features a curvy outline and simple thumb tail that provides more surface area, allowing the board extra lift and control in between turns. The fast rocker blends from the centre to the tail, giving the Celeritas off the chart speed while maintaining perfect control. Ideal for small to overhead surf, the Celeritas will appeal to intermediate to expert riders looking for a high performance modern surf machine.
TEST TEAM NOTES:
The Celeritas has a quality bamboo look and definitely feels well made. It’s not the lightest board in the hands, but is well featured and the deck pad provides a good connection to the board without being too spongey. More oval in its outline with more of a wide hip in the middle the Celeritas is a little more tippy in terms of stability than some of the other boards and therefore isn’t the most stable for learning to gybe etc., but it initiates a turn very quickly. For quick, short radius turns and tearing apart average waves the Celeritas is fantastic. If you’re used to handling a surfboard and looking for a good time this is comfortable and fairly soft under your front foot and just loves being thrown around. Excelling in fast, nimble rail to rail performance you can be really aggressive on the playful Celeritas. Stepping up in wave size to just over head high you can also count on the Celeritas for a really solid bottom turn and reliable drive with the concave really gripping, so if you generally want to smash things up and terrorise waves, the Celeritas is a great all-round ally.
