For 2009 North have completely re-worked the Vegas to cover a wider range of conditions and riding styles. A slightly lower-aspect-ratio and wider wing-tips have been implemented for a very constant pull, extremely tight kite loops and improved low end grunt to please the C kite lover in you.
The '09 Vegas also features a new three-in-one concept; three different settings that allow you to choose your desired feel for freeride and new-school at its highest possible performance level. With a quick switch of the line connection point, ride on the 5th line freestyle/freeride setting with plenty of depower and the classic Vegas feel offering the most versatility, ideal for free/wave riding, jumping and unhooking. Riding with full power in this mode the forces on the lines are split; 60% load on the front lines and 40% on the back, so less steering is needed to make the kite turn quickly. Make another little switch and you're into the 5th line new-school setting. Riding full power in this mode, the forces are split 75% on the front and 25% on the back.
The back lines become less sensitive, causing less movement while you're throwing unhooked tricks. The kite has reduced depower, is extremely steady when unhooked and less sensitive to bar input but with all the safety relaunch benefits of the 5th Element. And finally, choose four line new school. Similar to five-line...but four line!
