Flysurfer Sonic Race

A look at one of the premiere racing wings in the world foiling fleet

Flysurfer have been at the forefront of foil design for years but their new race wing, the Sonic Race, has firmly positioned itself in the front pack on the world foil racing stage with many racers switching over to the kite this year, some of whom aren’t even sponsored by Flysurfer, to give themselves the competitive edge.

The SONIC RACE lightweight construction is built out of Flysurfer’s X-Light fabric which is ultra-durable while keeping the wing rigid in the sky and 3-Level Bridle Design was totally reworked for 2018 with narrower diameter lines for maximised aerodynamic efficiency. It’s all about marginal gains at the top of the foil fleet at the moment and this may be one reason why the Sonic Race, which was painstakingly reengineered by Benni Boelli, the lead designer for this kite, has been seen so regularly at the front of the fleet.

Olly Bridge, who joined Flysurfer earlier this season, has had a stellar year on the race circuit and has been harrying Nico Parlier and Axel Mazella all year. He took second overall on the HydroFoil Pro Tour and third at the Formula Kite World Champs while also causing some damage at the KiteFoil Gold Cup events he attended and he did it all on the Sonic Race so you know this wing is rapid!
