Flysurfer are claiming that this year's Flyboard range represents the biggest annual leap forward since they started producing boards in 2005. For starters, a concave has been added throughout the range for increased lift, speed and control - the Flydoor now apparently being the only 'door' shape with a concave. Fin position has also had a little tampering, the result being harder and more fluid carving now being possible. Toe- and heel-side riding has been optimised with a new asymmetrical overall shape, the idea being that you now have to put less pressure on the toe-side rail to maintain momentum and course when riding on your little piggies. The heel-side edge is now straighter, for better upwind performance and pop.
Feedback from riders has led to the introduction of a wider stance option and more efficient flex tips have also found their way into the design. All Flyradicals have a wood core for a stronger, bombproof construction, while the Flydoors have two strips of wood combined with foam making up their core, making them amazingly light for their size, shaving 15 ? 20% off the weight of last year's model. Finally, all the important accessories haven't been overlooked with new pad, strap and handle designs included with all boards in the range.
The Flyradicals in a nutshell are faster, quicker planing, harder popping boards with more impressive upwind performance than last year.
