Crazy Fly Raptor Pro (2008)

The New Raptor Pro 2008 replaces the Pro Line from 2007. It comes with a brand new outline, scoop and rocker line which make the Raptor faster and gives it much better upwind ability. Medium flex has been retained in the tips, and stiffness has been focussed between the pads for the most comfortable ride in choppy waters. Flex tips also make the board very aggressive and dynamic in sharp carve turns. This board brings comfort for your knees along with its dynamics to give you the smoothest and most enjoyable ride you can ever get. Raptor is the all around board that works well in most conditions from storming winds to fairly light, and choppy to flat waters. The Raptor is one of the few boards on the market built with full Nano Carbon construction and Crazy Fly's original wood tech core 2 is the perfect balance between wood and PVC, making the board one of the lightest available. CNC shaped and hand fine finished 3- Dimensional ABS rails in combination with carbon layers create a torsion box with high torsional stiffness.

CHRIS: Excellent pads and straps, as for the Bulldozer ? all match with the fins and look great. Personally I prefer a slightly softer pad. This is another of those Jack-of-all-trades boards. It's softer and slightly looser than some other boards, but is great fun to chuck about and you can easily slide it about from blind etc. At the same time, you can immediately dig an edge in and crank upwind.
NEAL: It feels very smooth and copes easily with blasting through chop and white-water. It's smaller than most of the other boards and feels really lively and responsive underfoot, but not so small as to make take-offs and landings complicated. Because it is smaller, there is less pop than there might be, and for that reason I don't think it's an out-and-out freestyle board, unless perhaps for lighter riders, but its comfort at pace make tricks easier anyway. I think a bigger version would take almost any rider on to bigger and better tricks, but this one was just so much fun to ride powered up that I spent ages on it.
CHRIS: Popping off chop is nice, it is carvy too and I got some good spray up in the waves. A lot of top freestyle boards sacrifice total comfort in the ride, but something like this is just so nice to ride. It doesn't sap the power in your legs. I was really tired at the end of the day and I went out on this again.

SUMMARY: Unless you're really serious about having the most poppy board for unhooked freestyle, this is like a little sports car with bucket seats to hold you in as you belt around the ocean, handling corners beautifully and overtaking everything in sight.
