Airush love their slogans, and the chosen magic mouthful for the Flow is 'Innovation by Subtraction'. So what's that all about then? Well, the Flow has a lower centre of effort, increasing depower and reducing bar pressure and bar throw. How? A variable canopy curve apparently; a unique concept optimising the central area of the canopy, increasing efficiency over traditional kites.
The shape maintains the vertical component in the wing-tip to enhance directional steering. An Aramid composite sandwich construction in the wing-tip area increases the stiffness to diameter ratio of the leading edge, creating more direct steering due to a wing-tip/LE structure 50% stiffer than a standard wing-tip. Another bonus is that the cross-bridle could be removed, further enhancing the steering. In a nutshell, Airush wanted the Flow FT to be a kite with the absolute highest all-round performance levels while reducing complexity for the rider. The proof is in the pudding and the test team will be dining at the Airush table very soon.
