The Nuclear is by far the most stylish grab in the business. Anyone can grab the nose, but executing the nuclear clinging on through so many frames with style takes practice and some serious pop. Lucky for us we hooked up with Morrocan ripper, Mohammed Hamaini, to take us through the steps of a text book Nuclear grab.
• Approach with your hands in the centre on the bar to avoid any unwanted kite movements. With your leading hand place your index finger over the chicken-loop
to get it as close to the center of the bar as possible.
Even the smallest kicker or bit of white wash really makes a difference when you pop. Approach
with your kite at 45 with plenty of speed to generate some serious pop. As you edge to get enough speed and have chosen your kicker, flatten off and pop aggressively. You want to try and pop flat, not like for a railey, but by extending your back leg to swing your body back. Take note of the angle of Mohammed's board.
• Straight after you pop look down to spot the nose of board. Bend your front knee to bring the board up and reach down to the grab.
