Just 6 weeks until VKSA 2014!

Quote from Sir Richard Branson:

“After the World Record breaking success of the first ever Virgin Kitesurfing Armada, I am really looking forward to this year’s event and seeing hundreds of kitesurfers coming together again to raise funds for good causes and hopefully breaking our own record. My passion for kitesurfing is well known, and an event like this that showcases the best of kitesurfing, and it is something Virgin is fully behind - especially since we are seeing the Kitesurfing Armada growing into a festival this year, something we do know a little bit about at Virgin! I will look forward to seeing everyone on the beach!”

Sign Up's
VKSA paused registration in June when numbers got to 400, as together with sponsor and VIP places they were up to the 500 limit...but with some sponsors not quite taking their full quota of places, some more places have recently been released and they have contacted those on the waiting list. So if you received an email - do sign up! For any questions about places to ride at VKSA 2014 please contact: julia@kitesurfingarmada.com

The target is still to get to around 500 kitesurfers participating on the day in order to break the VKSA's own World Record and raise loads for charity.

VKSA growing into a Kitesurfing Festival
The Kitesurfing Armada will grow into a weekend festival this year. Of course the downwinder to Pagham will be the highlight, but whether that happens on the Saturday or the Sunday, there will be full weekend of activities down at Hayling for everyone to enjoy - kitesurfer or not!

Live music, brands exhibiting the latest gear, kite clinics, taster sessions, talks from pros and those in the industry, food stalls, camping, bars, a big screen and a huge party are all planned. So even if you don't have a place on the downwinder, keep your eye on the weekend it's all happening and head down and get involved.

Sir Richard gets behind the event again!
Sir Richard Branson and title sponsors Virgin have been getting behind the event once again and supporting in a number of ways - but you can't really beat a personal tweet supporting the event to 4.2 million people! Sir Richard clearly loves his kitesurfing, and included the VKSA in his 'Best Bits of 2013' video - and he is hoping to be there again this year, and once again lead off the next World Record attempt.

Virgin also launched a blog about the 2014 VKSA - you can check it out at: www.virgin.com/unite/our-community/how-to-break-a-world-record

Could you Volunteer?
The organisers couldn't run the Kitesurfing Armada, and raise as much for charity, without the support of their fantastic volunteers. Last year over 60 volunteers helped out and made the event the success it was - so if you want to get involved this year there are loads of roles they need help with across the festival weekend. £20 a day is covered for your food and expenses, along with free camping and parking if you need it... and of course shifts are arranged to give you time off at the festival too. Best Kiteboarding continue their support with new Virgin TS Kite!
Our friends at Best Kiteboarding have been a fantastic support as Headline Sponsor of VKSA 2014. They have been behind the event since its very first inception, they have supported Lewis as a Best rider as the event has developed and now they have released the Best / Virgin TS Kite!

Best say: 'The Virgin edition of the brand new Best TS is the ultimate crossover kite for everybody who needs a performance oriented kite to boost big airs, throw unhooked wakestyle tricks, slice waves or get the most out of a freeride session. The TS is the kite to do it all. The Open-C design delivers a rock solid stability while the kite geometry ensures easy handling without sacrificing flying speed. If anything, the TS is one of the fastest kites on the market, thanks to its shape, bridle system and light weight. As the TS comes with a lifetime warranty, we build it bomb proof. The new model has a Double Core RipStop reinforced trailing edge and a fine tuned placement of Dacron canopy, making it ultra durable. The Best TS is the perfect kite to break the World Record one more time.'

More from Best...
Sebastian Heitmann, CEO of Best Kiteboarding, said: 'We are very proud to support the Virgin Kitesurfing Armada again and to help make it an even greater success. Our aim to make people 'Ride with us' couldn't be better reflected than in this event and we cannot wait to get out there with all our friends. We are excited to break the world record one more time and to raise money and awareness for people in need. See you on the water at Hayling Island!'

Safety Boat Support for VKSA 2014
The VKSA is being helped by a number of individuals, sailing clubs and rescue serves to provide fantastic safety cover for the event on the water. But they are still looking for more boats - so if you want to be part of the safety boat team and have access to a RIB, please do get in touch at: dan@kitesurfingarmada.com

All expenses and fuel are covered - training will be given on the Friday before the weekend we run the event - and of course you can join the party in the festival later!
