THE LURE:
Discover huge wide-open beaches in the south and strong waves in picturesque coves set amongst fishing villages in the north. Like most of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura has great wind and surf!

There are two main areas to kite in Fuerte – the northeast: Flag Beach and Cotillo; and the south: Sotavento .

FLAG BEACH:
Flag Beach is situated very close to the popular resort town of Corralejo. The predominant wind direction here is cross-shore from the left in the summer, while the winter time can bring a lot of onshore winds. Flag is a long, sandy beach with reefs at both ends that go out to sea about 50 metres. The beach is separated with kiters situated more upwind and windsurfers downwind in front of the Flag Beach centre. The conditions here change with the seasons, which is why it's such a popular spot.

COTILLO:
Cotillo is around the headland from Flag Beach on the other side of the island and gets mainly cross-on winds from the right. This is another long, sandy beach with rocky outcrops every 100 metres or so that jut out into the sea. The wind can be pretty light for the first hundred metres because of the cliffs and there is no rescue cover here. Big swells hit this beach in the winter, but in the summer it can be a very good option if there's no wind at Flag Beach.

WIND & WEATHER:
The best months for consistency and favourable wind directions are the summer months, between April and October. The winter months bring changeable conditions, a lot of onshore winds, but also waves. In the summer the air temperatures sit at a beautiful 28°C and dip to 22°C in winter.

WATER:
Not too much movement in the water temperatures, rising from 18°C in the winter to 22°C in the summer months.

CENTRES:
Flag BeachFlag Beach Kitesurfing is located just outside Corralejo on the huge sandy beach. Kit is available for hire and lessons take place for all levels in 6 languages. Instructors are IKO, VWVS and BKSA affiliated

OFF THE WATER:
Corralejo is a bustling and busy tourist town with a large variety of bars and restaurants for day and night and for all tastes. Mainly self-catering apartments, there are a couple of 4 star hotels and one luxury five star. If you want something a little more sedate then head to Cotillo, although there isn't a lot of accommodation, however there are some lovely villages like La Jares in between Cotlillo and Correlejo that would cater for your tastes. Sotavento in the south has a good hotel right on its beach.

Fuerteventura is another well-equipped tourist destination, and as such is set-up with all the usual activities to attract the crowds, such as biking, diving, jet-skiing, catamaran sailing and surfing.

ACCOMMODATION:
