Safety - Dos and Don'ts
With the advent of bow kites and modern saftey systems, kiteboarding is much safer than it used to be. There are still some sensible precautions to follow to avoid injury to yourself or others.

DOS
  • Take lessons with a qualified instructor
  • Ensure all of your equipment is suitable for the conditions and your ability level
  • Check that all of your equipment is in full working order before every session
  • Find out about local harzards and weather conditions before going out on the water
  • Respect other beach users
  • Aquire third party insurance
  • Use common sense

DON'TS
  • Go out in conditions beyond your current ability
  • Use old and worn out equipment without suitable safety systems
  • Go out on your own or kitesurf at beaches you have not seen other kiters ride at
  • Leave equipment unattended
  • Stay out on water until you are totally exhausted
This is a quick guide to the basic safety issues. Check your local club, shop or kitesurfing association for further details of specific safety information for your area.
