MOVE: S-Bend-to-ToeRIDER: Sam LightPHOTOS: William MilneThat's right, you heard! Go and sniff your armpit! Not because you've got odour issues - this is just one of the priceless tips PKRA rider Sam Light dishes out in this explanation of the S-bend-to-toe.
Before attempting this move you should be comfortably knocking out unhooked raileys, front rolls and to a certain extent, S-bends.
Done well this trick can look sick, and you can put cool grabs in such as an indy before you land with your right hand in the centre of your toe-side rail. Once mastered this trick can lead on to loads more, such as an NIS (non inverted slim), an S-bend shift to blind.... I could go on forever! For me personally, I find it easier than a normal S-bend as you dont need as much pop as you do for an S-bend. | | Approach the trick as you would go into an S-bend or railey; by edging and releasing to get some good pop and keeping your kite steady at about 45Ί. |

 | | Once you've popped and taken off you need to have a smell of your right armpit (left going on the other tack). Basically tuck your head into your right shoulder; by doing this you will naturally follow where you head goes and you body should start rotate into an S-bend. |

 | | As soon as you feel yourself coming round you need to try and spot your landing. This is where it gets a bit different to a normal S-bend...instead of bringing your front leg round to land heel-side by pulling the bar in towards your body, you need to pull the bar in towards your left hip. But actually think about getting it almost further than that; imagine pulling the bar past the left hand side of your body while pulling your back left foot round to land. |

 | | Land smoothly, bend you knees and ride away with a grin. |

 | PROBLEMS:
If when you land you're falling over your toe-side edge it will probably mean you're pulling the bar into your body too much. Try letting go with your front hand to land.
If you're butt checking you might be able to still ride away, but this might mean you're not pulling the bar in enough because the board isnt underneath you properly when you land. Either that or perhaps you're not getting enough time to complete the rotation so you need to pop harder!
And there you have it, an S-bend-to-toe-side!
