| THE HYPE: The 2008 Jaime series bridges the gap between freeride and freestyle. Possibly the most universal board in the North range, the Jaime has plenty of pop for throwing powered newschool tricks yet maintains a smooth, comfy feel. The secret to the Jaime's huge range lies in its asymmetrical bottom concave that combines a newschool rocker in the centre of the board for speed with a rounder scoop line along the rails for a forgiving ride. Medium flex makes the Jaime perfect for laying down tracks in small waves. With over 15000 boards sold, Jaime's sixth generation pro model sets a new benchmark in performance and advanced board construction. TEST TEAM NOTES: NEAL: Pads and straps are superb, comfortable and easy to adjust and get to fit right. WILL: The pads are actually quite hard, but that's nice and you can really feel the flex of the board working through them. I really enjoyed riding this. NEAL: Straight off the beach it is comfortable. Soaks up the chop and gusts without a twitch. I felt really locked in and connected with this board. And it is so simple to get it to do things. CHRIS: I really enjoyed it too – it's a refined ride. I'd give it 7/10 for pop, and this board range definitely isn't as advanced as it used to be, which I think is a good thing. Most people don't need a really advanced board as it actually hinders them, making the simple things harder. Looks good too. Handles speed although it did catch me out carving hard on toe-side when it got quite loose. Had to focus on getting the edge back in. NEAL: I thought it handled speed well and is a great allround riding and jumping board. Doesn’t stand out for any particular thing, but I don't think there are many riders that will reach its limit in each area. Great level of flex for ocean riding. Gives you a lot back. SUMMARY: Good looking, tough, high performing allrounder. Jaime Herraiz is now on his sixth generation pro model (which must be some kind of record?!) and he's toned things down and lined it up for the carving, boosting masses.
